We all know cats are mysterious creatures, but it turns out there is even more you didn’t know about your cat than you first thought! Here are five things you might not already know about your kitty cat.

They sweat through their paws

Your cat has relatively few sweat glands on its body due to being covered in fur. Instead, most of them are found on the pads of their paws, which explains why you might see paw prints on your tiles in the summer months!

Your cat doesn’t have a sweet tooth

Due to a genetic defect your cat can’t taste anything sweet. The same genetic defect has also been detected in Tigers and Cheetahs.

Your cat doesn’t have collarbones

This allows them to fit through gaps the size of their head, with the primary use of their whiskers being to determine the size of the gap.

They can dream

Usually cats prefer to nap but when they go into a deeper sleep they produce the same brain wave patterns that we do when we dream.

Your cat only meows at humans

Adult cats do not meow at each other, only humans. A cat’s meow it’s way of communicating with you. However, kittens do meow at their mothers to let them know if they’re cold or hungry.
